Field Marshal Montgomery ("Monty") reviewed the
Territorial Army at Whittington Barracks in June 1949.
The vast square was filled with men, women and equipment of
all kinds. This photograph shows various units awaiting the
march-past. No such huge assembly of troops has been held at
Whittington since, nor is ever likely to be.
