Colwich Church
“The outer side of the church looks ancient and stands tall. When you go through the old wooden arch round a bend and into the church, it amazes you for what you then see is pure beauty. The inside of the church is bigger than you would have guessed from looking at the outside. Every window is decorated with some kind of story from the Bible. Then sculptures were carved with such details that you knew what the artist was trying to get across. The way in which the roof was built made it look like a white canvas with black lines drawn across it in deep ink. The wood in which the church was made was a dark wood, almost as dark as the line on the ceiling, giving everything a touch of the past. As you walk out and see the brick of which the church is made it takes you back, as they sit together holding history in every crack.” Geena Cooper |

Shugborough
Farm
“On the farm, there are horses, goats, pigs, sheep, rabbits, chickens, cows and a donkey. The problems I had were that the animals moved. I would advise other artists to draw animals that stay still! The advantages of drawing real animals are that you can see lots of detail. The disadvantages are that they move a lot!” |

* All pupils require guidance to help focus their learning. Most will find writing grids provide useful guides to the expected length of a personal response. Some work well when asked to respond to specific questions and check lists. |
