Edward Brownfield Wain – 1861-1925. He was appointed manager of Whitfield at the early age of 22. He was the architect of the Whitfield, subsequently became mining engineer and managing director of Chatterley-Whitefield colliery. He died suddenly on April 24^th 1925 and was buried at Norton.
