Evening dress, about 1926
This dress is made from black 'artificial' silk. This was an easily washable artificial fabric made from rayon. This and other new fabrics became widely available in the 1920s. The dress is trimmed with beads and a flower made from silk velvet and chiffon.

This style of dress is popularly known as the 'flapper style'. It was often worn for dancing the Charleston and Black Bottom.
