The story of the great cathedral building can be traced through the archives of the Dean and Chapter of Lichfield Cathedral. These contain a great deal of information about the administration and management of the cathedral from the 13th century onwards. They also contain drawings by architects and craftsmen of national importance who were commissioned at various times to submit designs for work on the building, such as this watercolour, attributed to Joshua Reynolds, of a design for a window.
