Celebrations in Lichfield of the Relief of Mafeking and the Queen's birthday, May 1900

RELIEF OF MAFEKING.

On Thursday Morning next, May 24th,
BEING THE
QUEENS BIRTHDAY,

all the school Children will meet at their respective schools and then march past the Guildhall along Bird street to the Cathedral, where by the kindness of the Very Rev. The Dean, a special Short Service will be held at 9 o'clock.
The Children will return in Procession through Dam Street, and assemble in the Market Square at about 9-45.
They will there sing "GOD SAVE THE QUEEN," after which each Child will receive a Bun and an Orange and all will then disperse.
As many Children are as able will please bring Flags and Banners.
Citizens will oblige the Mayor by exhibiting Decorations on the occasion.
The Mayor invites all Members of the Council and Citizens generally to meet the Children in the Market Square, but not to intrude on the space set apart for the Children.
The Mayor specially invites the attendance of ladies to assist in the distribution of the Buns and Oranges.
