Letters Of Protection Granted By Baldwin, The Archbishop Of Canterbury, To The Canons Of St Thomas’ Priory, 1184-1190


These letters of protection include his ‘dear sons’, and ‘their’ place in which divine service is celebrated, and all goods and possessions acquired by the gift of Richard Peche, Gerard de Stafford and others.

The original seal to the document was of green wax and, like all ecclesiastical seals, oval shaped.
